Our programs
At Friends of Yolo County Animal Services, we believe every animal deserves compassionate care and the opportunity for a better life. Through the generosity of our donors and community partners, we provide resources that go beyond traditional shelter funding, helping animals in the shelter and pets in our community.

Helping Shelter Animals Heal
Some animals arrive at the shelter with medical needs that require care beyond routine services. Friends helps fund veterinary treatments, diagnostic testing, surgeries, and other essential medical care to give these animals a better chance at recovery and adoption.
With the support of our donors, we help ensure that medical challenges don't stand in the way of an animal's opportunity for a healthier, happier life.

Spay & Neuter Programs
Preventing Pet Overpopulation, One Animal at a Time
Spaying and neutering are among the most effective ways to reduce pet overpopulation and prevent animals from entering shelters.
Friends supports spay and neuter initiatives that increase access to these important services for pets in our community. By helping remove financial barriers, we are working toward a future with fewer unwanted litters, fewer homeless animals, and healthier pets.

Shelter Animal Enrichment & Adoption Readiness
Life in a shelter can be stressful. Friends helps provide enrichment activities, comfort items, training resources, and adoption supplies that improve the daily lives of shelter animals.
From toys and enrichment activities to harnesses, leashes, and behavioral support, these resources help animals feel more comfortable, build confidence, and prepare for successful adoptions.
Because every animal deserves more than a place to stay. They deserve the opportunity to thrive.

Community Pet Care
Keeping Pets and the People Who Love Them Together
Sometimes, families face unexpected challenges that put them at risk of losing a beloved pet. A medical emergency or financial hardship should not automatically mean saying goodbye.
Through partnerships with Yolo County Animal Services and local veterinarians, Friends helps provide veterinary assistance and other essential support to community-owned pets in need.
Our goal is simple: keep pets in loving homes whenever possible and prevent unnecessary shelter surrenders.
