About Us

Mission

Friends of Yolo County Animal Services is a volunteer-led nonprofit dedicated to supporting and enhancing the lifesaving work of Yolo County Animal Services while extending compassion and assistance to pets and families throughout our community.

Through community generosity and partnerships, we provide veterinary assistance, support adoption readiness, improve shelter facilities, expand spay and neuter opportunities, and help keep pets in loving homes.

Together, we strive to create a community where every animal has the opportunity to receive the care, compassion, and second chances they deserve.

Our Story

Friends of Yolo County Animal Services was founded in 2019 with a simple belief: Every animal deserves the best care possible, and together, we can make a greater difference.

We recognized that while Yolo County Animal Services works tirelessly to care for animals in need, county budgets and resources have limitations. We saw an opportunity to bridge that gap by bringing together compassionate community members, volunteers, and donors to provide additional resources that enhance the care and well-being of animals.

What began as a commitment to improving the lives of shelter animals has grown into something more. Today, Friends not only supports animals within the shelter but also reaches into our community, helping families access essential veterinary care, expanding spay and neuter opportunities, and working to keep beloved pets in their homes.

Our story is one of community, compassion, and partnership. By working together, we can do more for the animals and people of Yolo County than any one organization could do alone.
